Bio
Mr. Moran is a Partner at Hawkeye Partners, where he leads all aspects of the firm’s GP Solutions business, including strategy and the identification of investment opportunities. He has been involved in more than $15 billion of institutional real estate investments throughout his career and is a member of the firm’s Management and Investment Committees.
Most recently, Mr. Moran was a Managing Principal at FrontRange Capital Partners, where he was responsible for investment origination and asset management for new GP relationships. While at FrontRange, he led the origination of approximately $375 million of GP-level investments across a series of closed-end funds and co-investments.
Prior to FrontRange, Mr. Moran spent 17 years at Black Creek Group and Ares Management, departing as Chief Investment Officer of Ares Real Estate Income Trust, a diversified, perpetual-life REIT. During his tenure, he led or was directly involved in more than $6 billion of direct acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures across every major asset class nationally.
Mr. Moran began his investment career at Sonnenblick-Goldman Company and later served as a Portfolio Manager in the Real Estate Group at the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association, where he underwrote, asset managed, and sourced investment opportunities for a global institutional real estate investor.
Mr. Moran is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned both a Master of Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration. He has been a CFA charterholder since 2001 and has been deeply involved throughout his career with numerous industry organizations, including PREA, ULI, ICSC, and NMHC.
